Do You Like Your Olives Autumn, or Russian?

Autumn Olives are not Russian Olives. They both happen to be edible, invasive, and wild. Perhaps that creates the confusion. Read more on their differences and see a recipe for Autumn Olive jam on the edible Manhattan website. They wrote a comprehensive article on the berries in their latest issue.

Here is a link to a New Yorker’s blog, with photos of the two different species, Russian and Autumn Olives, to clear out any confusion.

Let’s all go out Autumn Olive picking. I’d love to see a recipe share. I may just head out there this weekend and get to cooking these little berries. I’ve just got to borrow a food mill from someone!
